What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security process that uses two different forms of identification to access your account. Think of your password as the first key and a unique 6-digit code as the second.

This provides an essential extra layer of protection: even if someone knows your password, they still can’t access your Wealth99 account without your 6-digit code. At Wealth99, using Google Authenticator for Two-Factor Authentication is compulsory, and withdrawals are restricted until enabled. 

 

Why is it important to have 2FA activated?

At Wealth99, the security of your account is our top priority. Activating 2FA is the most effective way to keep your digital assets safe for several reasons:

  • Double Protection: It creates a strong barrier against unauthorised access. Only the person with access to your 6-digit code can enter the account.

  • Safety Across the Web: While it is strongly discouraged, many people use similar passwords for different websites. If an unrelated website you use is ever compromised, 2FA ensures that your Wealth99 account remains secure and unaffected.

  • Verified Actions: 2FA isn't just for logging in; it acts as a final "digital signature" for important actions, such as withdrawing funds. This ensures that you, and only you, are in control of your money.

 

How do I activate it?

You can activate 2FA via Google Authenticator by following these instructions.

 

How does this impact my account?

Once enabled, you will be asked to enter a 2FA code during login, to confirm withdrawals, and to create API Keys. The Google Authenticator app generates a new, unique code every 30 seconds, ensuring that your account is protected by a constantly refreshing security key.

 

 

Important: Switching to Google Authenticator

To provide you with the most reliable security, SMS verification will no longer be available starting 1st May 2026. From this date, Google Authenticator will be the required 2FA method for all clients. While SMS-based 2FA has been a reliable foundation, Google Authenticator offers a significant upgrade in account safety. By moving your security codes away from your SIM card and onto a dedicated, encrypted app on your phone, your assets remain shielded from sophisticated modern threats like phone porting and network intercepts, ensuring that even if your mobile number is compromised, your account remains secure.
