Important Security Update: Mandatory Transition to Google Authenticator

While Google Authenticator has long been our recommended primary method, starting May 1, 2026, it will become the mandatory 2FA method for all clients, and the option to use SMS will be discontinued.

 

How This Affects Your Account

Please identify your current setup to see what action you need to take before 1st May 2026:

  • If you currently use SMS 2FA: To enhance your account's security and avoid any interruption to your service, please switch to Google Authenticator by enabling it in your account.

  • If you have both SMS and Google Authenticator enabled: Please log in and ensure your Google Authenticator is still correctly linked and generating working codes. Once SMS is discontinued, you will rely solely on the app. If you require a 2FA reset, please contact our Support team.

  • If you have no 2FA enabled: For your security, please set up Google Authenticator directly. We suggest skipping the SMS setup to ensure your account meets our updated standards in a single step.

  • If you already use Google Authenticator exclusively: No further action is required. Your account is already using our highest security standard.

 

Secure Your Uninterrupted Access

To ensure your assets remain fully shielded during this transition, the following measures will apply from 1st May:

  • Operational Restrictions: A temporary restriction on transactional activity, including fiat withdrawals, will apply if Google Authenticator is not active by May 1. Full account functionality will be restored as soon as setup is complete.

  • Temporary Login Grace Period: If you have not transitioned by the deadline, you will still be able to log in using your existing SMS 2FA. However, this is a temporary measure designed solely to allow you to access your security settings and finalise your Google Authenticator setup. We recommend activating it now to avoid any additional security verification steps that may be required for post-deadline setups.

What is Google Authenticator?

Google Authenticator is a secure app that uses a Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) system. Unlike SMS, which relies on mobile networks, this app generates a unique 6-digit code directly on your smartphone.

  • Dynamic Protection: For your safety, codes refresh every 30 seconds. You will see a different code each time you use the app.

  • Offline Access: Codes are generated locally on your device. You do not need a mobile signal or internet connection to receive your code.

  • Enhanced Security: This method ensures that even if your phone number is compromised, your Wealth99 account remains secure.

Once enabled, your Google Authenticator codes will be required for:

  1. Every Login: Adding a vital second layer of security.

  2. Fiat Withdrawals: Ensuring that only you can authorise the movement of your funds.

  3. API Keys: When creating API keys to link your account with a crypto tax platform, ensuring that you are the one approving and controlling this connection.
