My Google Authenticator codes aren't working

"I'm entering the Google Authenticator code to sign in, but it's saying the code is incorrect".

If your Google Authenticator codes aren’t working, don’t worry, this is a common issue that can usually be resolved quickly. This article will walk you through the most common reasons and what steps you can take to fix the problem and regain access to your Wealth99 account. Here are some of the most frequent causes of incorrect or non-functioning codes:

1. Time Sync Issues

Google Authenticator codes are time-based. If the time on your mobile device is out of sync, the codes may not work.

Solution for Android

Option 1: Enable Automatic Time Settings (Recommended)

    1. Open Settings on your Android device.

    2. Go to Date & Time.

    3. Enable Set Automatically to sync time with your network provider.

Option 2: Manually Sync Time in Google Authenticator

(This option may not be available on all Android versions)

    1. Open the Google Authenticator app.

    2. Tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top-right corner.

    3. Select Settings.

    4. Tap Time correction for codes.

    5. Select Sync now.

Solution for iPhone

    1. Open Settings.

    2. Go to GeneralDate & Time.

    3. Enable Set Automatically to ensure your device time is accurate.

    4. Make sure the correct Time Zone is selected.

    5. If 'Set Automatically' is already enabled, you can try to toggle it off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on to force a resync.

2. Incorrect Code Entry

Sometimes, entering the code too late or mistyping it can cause failure.

Solution:

  • Codes change every 30 seconds; even a small time difference makes them invalid. Enter the code as soon as it’s generated.

  • Double-check for accuracy before submitting.

3. Multiple Accounts or Devices

Having multiple accounts in your Google Authenticator app or switching devices can cause confusion or conflicts.

Solution:

  • Ensure you're using the correct account and matching code.

  • If you've recently changed devices, the authenticator may need to be reconfigured.

4. Device setup

  • Ensure your phone’s time zone and date/time are set automatically and correctly.

  • After syncing, simply close and reopen the Google Authenticator app to refresh code generation.
